IMG_5240Wow. Another full moon in August has come and gone. I don’t know about you but this past weekend on Cape Cod was just perfect. Full Moon. Hot Sun. Cool air. Beach time. Live music. Family and Friends. As Mark Erelli writes in his song August, “A fool would ask for more” (ps. check out his new upcoming release Milltowns on Sept. 9)

This time last summer I can’t say I felt as good as I do now. In fact, I had just finished 30 days of antibiotics for Lyme Disease and was not feeling very inspired in general. Isn’t it amazing how our lives go through cycles. The longer I live and practice spiritual teachings I have received, the more I allow this to happen with ease and grace.

Want to open yourself to some of these teachings, not to mention connection, community, fun, and BLISS? JOIN US this weekend at Love Yoga Fest. I will be opening the day on Saturday at 7am with a chanting of the Gayatri Mantra, among other chants and then signing again on the Main Stage at 5:00pm. I will also be at a healing table with Kristen O’toole offering the Prema Agni & Rising Star Energy Healings Systems. This energy was taught to us by Derek O’Neill, who will be in Boston on Nov. 9. Stop by, learn more, and FEEL THE LOVE.

LYF-LOGO-1This weekend, right in Aselton Park Hyannis yoga teachers from all over the Cape and New England will be offering their joy, wisdom, experience, and fun for you to play, frolic, explore, and awaken. What a gift to Cape Cod!! I remember just a couple years ago we were doing yoga on the Green and now here we are!! Thank you Love Live Local Ladies and Annika for birthing this dream I had imagined way back then. May All Beings in All the Worlds be Happy and may CAPE COD lead the way.

This Full moon in July is called Guru Purnima and in the Hindu faith it is considered an auspicious day of honoring the guru – or great sage and teacher. Many of you know I consider Derek O’Neil a great sage and teacher of mine. He will be in Boston on Nov. 9 and I encourage anyone interested to come. It’s a lot cheaper then getting all the way to Ireland and it will be a wonderful day!

I have had many teachers in my life. My first and perhaps most deeply felt one was my mom. For many of us, this is true. Wether we feel our relationship with her was wonderful, horrible or somewhere in between, this initial relationship is one of our greatest teachers.

Next comes Dad.  I have been reflecting recently on some of my favorite (and humorous) things I have learned from my Dad. Here are the top 10 (according to me)

me dad and dennis
Me & Dad & Dennis (my big bro)

10. Ritz crackers and cheese can be a meal

9. Really, it’s not that windy, we can make it to the next port

8. Fixing stuff, no matter how broken, is much preferred to buying something new

7. Kids are far more resilient than adults think

6. Laughing at yourself, life, and everything else is a really good idea

5. Music is awesome and you should play it loudly in your house all the time and go see it live

4. Movies are also amazing and you should seek out independent and interesting films. They feed you.

3. Even when you feel you are at your worst, you are still probably better than most

2. 95% of life is showing up

1. Keep one hand for yourself and one hand for the boat

Thank you to all my teachers, especially my Dad. You can learn more about him at HIS BLOG

Happy Mothers Day to all – A little late. I was in Boston this past weekend participating in an Autism and Music Conference at Boston Conservatory. Along with the fabulous North End meal, the weekend was truly nourishing.

And now I am off to help my cousin perform her powerful play SICK.mom saying hi

I love May. I love this time of constant visible growth in nature and the absolute blooming of green green green and pink and yellow and all the colors. IT’s also nice this year that my inside experience matches the nature outside me, as I feel like I too am rebirthing and blooming again. This is not always this case. we don’t always feel in sync with the nature around is and that’s ok.

May 17 will mark the 7th year anniversary of my mom’s passing from this earth. 7 years. It feels like a blink of an eye and multiple lifetimes. And isn’t that how time feels these days? both compressed and expanded. It’s amazing if we are aware, open, empowered, and excited to serve ourselves and those around us, then we are able to flow with all that is. I am grateful for every moment of the last 7 years in which I experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. I am grateful for it all. In deep gratitude and honoring of my mother, Ellen, myself, and our journey together, I am sharing this song and video I created while living in Egypt in 2010.

We are all mothers in our own way. THANK YOU for all you are and all you create. Happy FULL MOON tomorrow.

Isn’t it Amazing?

It’s March and it’s still pretty cold…

Whew!! It’s been a wide ride, has it not?

sunrise on new moon - Perfect Balance - 3.1.14

Sunrise on New Moon – Perfect Balance – 3.1.14

I feel like I have undergone a deep inner transformation. Not that much in my outer world has changed and yet I feel completely NEW. For me the journey began way back in September, however it certainly culminated and quantam leaped from Dec 21, 2013 until now. I am not sure I can articulate exactly what happened except that much was purified out of my system so that I could remember who I am and be in better and lighter service.

Today is a new moon. And I remember in January hearing a little voice in my head say, “just make it to March”. This could be because I am a true New Englander now and “making it to March” is what we the collective consciousness is often doing, but it felt energetic to me.

And I can tell you now: this morning, with the new moon in full presence on March 1, that little voice was right on. If you want more insight on theses energies, I really enjoyed this article by Jon Waldrup on The Cosmic Path.

So what new is birthing? a deep belief within that the work I am doing matters and is exactly what I am supposed to be doing. Alleluia! This is leading to a new CD chanting project, lots of upcoming gigs, more sessions Sounding Still Wellness, and overall more fun doing what I love.

Thank you for listening, reading, following along and being you. May your new moon and MARCH be happy, warm, silly, and fabulous!

Please join me for the Heart of Wellness event tomorrow and the multiple opportunities to celebrate International Women’s Day musically and creatively next weekend right here on Cape Cod. Also I will be at the Harvest Wine Bar & Gallery on Sunday March 16 for an early show 4-7. Spring is a coming!!

Sunday March 2 – Heart of Wellness Event 1-4pm
Courtyard Marriot

Saturday March 8 – All About Seven Cape Cod Museum of Art   3-5  – 7 Women Songwriters

Sunday March 9 WOMEN ROCK! Cultural Center of Cape Cod

Isn’t it Amazing this CD came out almost two years ago. YOU CAN now LISTEN and REQUEST the single at this LA radio station

I’ll be opening for a great evening of music this Saturday NIght at Harvest Gallery & Wine Bar in Dennis, MA with Molly Parmenter, Sheri Lynne, and Sara Laketa! I go on at 6:30.

On another note, I recently joined this inspiration exchange online and I keep getting these emails with lots of great quotes/prayers/thoughts. This is one of my favs:

Smiling increases your face value

so true! no matter where you are, what you are doing or how you are feeling, take a deep breath and smile. Choose to be happy RIGHT NOW wherever you are. this is a practice and it can transform not only you, but those around you.

Tomorrow is a NEW MOON and according to many it will include a huge shift. heaviness will lift, clarity will come and we will be invited to step up, step out and LIVE that which we know is true. LOVE and COMPASSION are the way. know that each breath you take, each smile you share, each laugh to allow creates more love inside yourself and all around you.
