I have been aware of the energy of 11/11 for almost 15 years now. What is that energy? I like to think of it as a Unity energy. I imagine each 1 in 11/11 is a pillar of Light standing next to another pillar of light. What happens when we all allow ourselves to be our lightest, most peaceful and connected selves? What happens when we have the courage to acknowledge our human struggles and choose love and connection still.

This is the journey I continue to walk and I am beyond blessed to have had the resources, family and friends and spiritual teachings that I have had thus far.

That being said, I also feel like I am on the verge of somewhere I have never been before – like that moment in Back to the future where Doc says ” Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” Can you relate? Do you feel like both an individual and collective awareness or awakening is happening and you are not sure about your next step? Or you can see the next step but it’s hard to trust it’s actually going somewhere.

You are not alone.

We (Humanity) need you to remember as best you can and live into who you truly are in service of yourself and all. This remembering can be joyful! This remembering is why we are here. This remembering can happen while living and connecting and being a regular old human.

What a miraculous time to be alive.

This past month of September I was posting one of my most popular songs a lot on Instagram called Sweet September. I also re-learned a song I wrote 29 years ago September Again to help support the release of my friend Felice Cohen’s new memoir Half In. (Check it out, It’s awesome!) It was such a busy month of getting back to teaching and feeling much more scheduled, I didn’t even get a chance to write a blog.

So, here we are in OCTOBER again. I love this month. I have always wanted to write a song about (or during) October that really embodies the magic of this month, but I haven’t yet. Maybe in the next 3 weeks…..I will keep you posted.

In the meantime, Check out what I have coming up this month – a Retreat in NH on Nov. 5, Solstice yoga and chanting on Dec. 21 on Cape Cod at Dennisport Yoga and a March Retreat in Ireland at my beloved Creacon. As I type this I am waiting to connect with Fugan Dineen, my old friend and excellent drummer (it’s him chanting on one of my most streamed tracks OM GAM GANAPATYE NAMAHA). So, hopefully some kirtan and chanting events from us will emerge soon in the New England area.

Be gentle with yourself out there and trust your flow, no matter whether it syncs perfectly with anyone else.

We are in a time of community – small community. Who are you spending time with? Who is supporting you? How can you nurture and expand on that positive loving energy? and if you are not feeling that small community in a loving way, what do you need to do in your own life to allow more of that in?

Timeless Album

It’s hard to believe we are here – November 2021. It was two years ago that I moved to Boston and began teaching full time while also continuing to perform and record music.

With the pandemic, much of my performing stopped and deep transformation began to unfold within. During that time I also turned 50 and ran my first 10K.

You can listen and watch me working on a new tune here inspired by October.

Now, here I am feeling a return to the very essence of who I am and why I am here. This essence also feels new and expanded – older and wiser, capable of holding more and worrying less. What a gift!

As I begin to record my 6th album, I wanted to invite you to two upcoming opporutinties to be with me, my vibration and some new songs.

First on 11/11, I will be doing a chanting event on ZOOM. It’s a pay what you can situation, though you will need to register to get the passcode. Check out the FB event here.

On 12/21/21 – Winter Solstice – I will be chanting live at Power Yoga of CapeCod with a limited number of guests at 15. If you don’t register in time or would rather not be in person you can also sign-up to livestream it.

This will be a true coming home for me – to my beloved Cape Cod and on the winter solstice, a time when I love doing events. The energy will be healing, uplifting and sacred. I would love to be with all that feel called – whether in person or online.

Enjoy this new moon in Scorpio. We have all been evolving at a rapid rate.

How is everybody? I just wanted to update my site and give you some good vibes and good music to tune into.

Life is dynamic and constantly evolving. I am grateful for all the peace, love, and abundance in my life right now and I have the joy of being a teacher, so summer vacation is on!

Hello friends!

It has been a powerful 6 months on planet earth and in the United States of America. very painful for many and also incredibly awakening for us all.

I am excited to be singing this Sunday at 1pm in my home village next to this beautiful mural recently commissioned to be painted on a local barn. (right across the street from Sturgis Library). It was painted by Joe Diggs and Jackie Reeves.

I remember growing up in Barnstable Village and going to Barnstable High School from 1984-1988 and knowing something was very wrong. I could tell how I got special treatment because I was a “good kid”. A good kid because my Dad was a doctor and I had white skin with blond hair. I watched as other students who were black or didn’t have a mom always on the PTA got treated differently. I didn’t have the language to talk about it – and not many adults did either – but I could feel it and it didn’t feel good.

That is why I wanted to get off Cape Cod as quickly as possible. I could tell I was different somehow (even though I had not yet come out as a lesbian) and wanted to find people who felt different like me and were working for equality and inclusion.

I have journeyed to lots of places in this world – 12 years in Brooklyn, NY, a couple years in the Middle East (Cairo & Lebanon), 8 years back on Cape Cod running Sounding Still Wellness and now I am currently living in Boston teaching at a private school in Weston.

The reality and pain of white privilege and colonization is everywhere, and we are in a time now with great opportunity to educate ourselves, so we can begin talking and acting in public, as well as privately, with more intention, awareness and transformational love.

I could not be more happy to sing and be among artists who are asking questions and creating conversations right here in my home village of Barnstable.

I was reminded today by facebook of a campaign I did 8 years ago called 40 and Fabulous. I was on the verge of turning 40, having recently returned from a middle east/age crisis (that’s a whole other blog) and was regrouping on Cape Cod.

In this practice and campaign I created, I filmed myself everyday for 40 days chanting a different chant and posted it on youtube. I asked people to donate to SQ Foundation if they resonated with the videos. My goal was $40,000. HAHA. I have always dreamed very big.

This experience was an extraordinary lesson for me in consciousness, desire and how energy works. I can see now, that my intentions were multi-fold.

Yes, I wanted to share myself and my gifts as a singer to help support a foundation I believed in.

Yes, I wanted some structure to help me birth this career as a spiritual singer that I knew was real, but had no idea how to create.

And YES, I wanted to be seen and known for who I was, even though my external life seemed like it was going nowhere.

When I didn’t get close to reaching my goal but received an email from SQ Foundation within the next couple months saying that they had a set a goal to reach $40,000 in support of their programs, I learned so much!

It was not about ME being the one to raise the money. It was about ME showing up in my gifts and planting the seed so that WE could all thrive and empower ourselves and each other. Thank God I was crazy enough to do that and give myself a truly healing and awakening experience.

The other thing that happened during that campaign was on day 8, after committing to doing this, I got a bad cold and lost parts of my voice. I RARELY lose my voice. So there I was, humbled, having to acknowledge that singing and chanting is never about how you sound, but about the intention and devotion with which you offer your vibration.

All healing is Self-healing.

Now, as I travel sharing my songs and leading people in chants (as if it was something I always did), I reference this personal experience often to illustrate how we may not ever know fully why we are urged to do things from within. We may feel that the inner guidance we receive or desires we become aware of are crazy and illogical and …..they may be.

However, I have learned, when I take actions from my inner guidance with the right motivation, amazing things can happen – for both me and the people who end up hearing or feeling me.

It is not always an easy path. It can be frustrating and confusing and lonely. However, here I am again at age 48, recommitting to this path. My path. Our path. A path of what I now call Self-Actualization or Living into my Destiny Path.

My only job now is to become uniquely me at the highest potential possible in any given moment. If I truly commit to this, that realization of my pure essence will be of the Highest Service to Humanity, of which I am a part and I will have fun along the way!

Some of you may have figured this out a long time ago. I often joke, I am on the remedial human path. I have always resonated with the spiritual path and for that I am beyond grateful. Now, I am excited and thrilled to walk into my human path of expressing my Spiritual Being at a whole new level.

I cannot fully express in words what a gift it is to be a Creative Music Maker right now on this glorious planet. I guess I will have to just keep on writing songs and singing to share that joy!

I can’t believe it’s June 1st. Wow! The May 17 Official release concert in Brooklyn was so fun and it is so thrilling to have this new music out in the world and be hearing back from some of you about what you are liking and what is resonating. Have you heard the CD? Or received it in the mail? Send me a message and let me know how you are listening and what you are loving. Those little messages mean more than you think and help keep me going.

TONIGHT I will be enjoying a beautiful experience at the Harwich Cultural Center with a local group of Cape musicians backing me up. so so fun. Catie Flynn, who sang on the record will be in the house along with her band mates Aaron Mayo and Karl Hoyt. Rich Buck will be on drums which is such a treat.

I have shows coming up on June 15 in Quincy, MA, June 22 in New Ross Ireland and July 26 in Cincinnati.

What an extraordinary year it has been. As a great author once said,

The tale of two cities, indeed. Which city are you living in? Do you know you can choose, in any moment?

I have learned this lesson over and over again and I am grateful to still be here – ALIVE and THRIVING towards that which I know I am: Love, Sound, Joy – here to serve myself and anyone who chooses to listen. May your true voice arise within you and may you share it with love, power, grace and the wisdom that YOU are incredibly powerful and the world needs YOUR voice RIGHT NOW.

IMG_9374Hello all – can you believe it’s July 23rd? Wow, time sure is moving fast.

I wanted to send a quick note and let you know I am singing this Thursday at Bismore Park on Hyannis Harbor as a part of the Love Listen Local series. It’s also a good time to save the date for our next Full Moon Beach Yoga with live music – Monday Aug. 7.

The energies inside and out are calling us to be still and allow for great change. So take time to be in nature, listen to music, chant with others, take naps and CHILL OUT.
