Happy 2023. Here we are on February 6, day after a full moon in Leo and finally feeling like we are truly moving forward into a new calendar year.

I am reflecting on the power of our own voices a lot lately. I am a human who has sung since I was a small child and made a life of writing my own songs and then singing them, in my own voice for the past 35 years. (recording a few of the songs along the way) What have I learned doing that? Not unlike what Lizzo shared last night at the Grammy’s: Even if you feel like an outsider, like people don’t get you, keep going and be yourself. You will find your people. You will attract people to you that will support you. This is so true. In all areas of life.

Not all of us may experience that Truth at the level of Lizzo, but we can experience it and the experience of listening to your own voice, acting from it, sharing it and having someone else acknowledge with joy and love that your voice is special is such a thrill and something I want all beings to experience.

Perhaps this is why I find myself teaching children music. When they feel heard and honored for their unique voice, they light up like a lightbulb and we can all feel it in the room, including me.

What lights you up right now? How can you allow for more of that as we continue on in this year? Everything is possible in any given moment and we can always invite in something new or amplify something present that we want more of. This is the power of our voice – inside and out. I am thrilled to have begun work on a new album (creating new music always lights me up!) and hope to release it to all of you before year end.

I am also thrilled to be returning to Ireland March 17-19 to lead Song of Rebirth at Creacon Wellness Retreat. This amazing opportunity to return to this beautiful place each year and travel with a group of souls exploring, healing and rebirthing the power of our voices is such a blessing for me.

There are still spots left, so if you want to remember, discover new sounds and amplify the power of your own voice, consider joining us. Book Directly At Creacon Website.

love love love

I am so grateful for my absolutely dreamy experience in Ireland and at Creacon Wellness Retreat Center. I was able to have some solo retreat time and then lead 6 other women through the Sound of Solstice Retreat. What an absolute joy and gift!

I am sharing a general message to them all in hopes they might tune into my website and soak it in.

I collected all their email addresses to send them out a private message today, one week after the retreat and alas, I have lost the list of emails. Business manager anyone? 😉

Open your heart. breathe deeply. All is well

During the weekend we chanted, laughed, created our own mantras and songs and rested. It was a unique and personal journey for each of us and a collective one that inspired and healed all of us.

In the transformational coaching practice I am trained in, there is a mantra: “We do not become ourselves by ourselves.” After this time with these 6 beautiful women, I can feel this truth in every cell of my being.

We all have a gifts. We all have struggles. I invite you to take this month to tune in deeply to your own vibration and seek out similar vibrations that reflect the best of you and can nurture you as you become tender and more flowing in the harder parts.

The favorite mantra of our time together at Creacon was the heart sutra (not suprising).

Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bohdi Swaha

For more chanting, songs and good vibrations, join me at the Maine Yoga Fest July 15-17 and in Hyannis overlooking the harbor on July 21 6-7:30pm.

If you are interested in a coaching or Rising Star Healing Session, NOW IS THE TIME to reach out, as I am off from teaching school full time until September.

Happy Happy Joyful July!

love love love, Alicia

I have been singing on the winter and summer solstice for over ten years and I am deeply aware that these thresholds of nature – of shifting from season to season – are to be acknowledged and celebrated.

In this time when we as humanity have created both a multi-cultural and evolving reality, along with so much polarization and feelings of isolation, what could be better than coming together as fellow humans to celebrate the Sun.

The Sun – An energy we all share and need.

And in the magical vibration that is IRELAND!

This June 24-26 I will be leading a retreat at my beloved Creacon Wellness Center and would love for you to join me. During this retreat we will be relaxing, listening deeply, learning to chant and sing, developing our meditation and chanting practice, journaling, laughing, asking ourselves deep questions, inviting ourselves to be silent when needed, and enjoying the healing, luxurious energy that is Creacon

You may be thinking is this the right time to book a flight to Ireland and hang out with Alicia with everything going on in my life and in the world? I would say YES!

The time is NOW.

In Ireland on the summer solstice there is magic and I want to share that magic with you. This may be the last Summer Solstice retreat I do in Ireland for many years (more on that later), so if you are feeling the call, I encourage you to GO FOR IT!

As much is falling away and changing and shifting, so much more is also being born and created. As we allow this new creation to fully manifest, we need each other. We need to gather with like-minded folks and support this collective rebirth.

My whole life has been about transitions and transformation. And my music has a special way of guiding me and others through transformation in a loving, joyful, and peaceful way.

So whether you are feeling strong and ready to take who you are to the next level or you are feel weary and just need some TLC and time to rest, THIS RETREAT IS FOR YOU!

Come to Ireland and give yourself a gift of Grace.

You can also join me in person on May 21 in the North End of Boston at Soma Yoga with Amy Leydon or July 15-17 at the Maine Yoga Fest.

love you all! Jai Jai Ma!

It’s hard to believe it is already February 5. How is everyone doing out there?

I have had a lot of shifts since the final 6 weeks of 2019 and I could not be more grateful for where I am and all the new music I feel is coming.

I would love to hear how 12 Rebirth is resonating for you. To be honest, I am still processing what an incredible experience it was to make that collection of songs at the level I did and I have a desire to make videos for each and every song. Here is the teaser video if you never saw it

I would love to hear from you if you have a song that you really want to see a video for first. I would also love to hear from you if you make music videos and would like to help me make mine really well on a very low budget. 😉

On a practical level, I am now basing myself in Boston which is really fun! I have taken a music teaching job at a Montessori school in Newton and am having so much fun. It’s a maternity leave position and will wrap up in mid-April.

I am currently making plans for new music to be recorded and released this spring, and I am also leading an incredible retreat/travel tour for women in Ireland that includes chanting and music/sound healing. I am so excited!!

We have one room left open – for a couple or single, so if you feel called, check out the details here. It is from May 4-11 and is co-led with my friend and colleague Jenny Wood.

I know there is a lot happening in our world right now that may be creating a sense of unknown and/or apprehension for us all. I will say, though, that I am feeling a deep peace inside and it is inspiring me to make more music and create more opportunities for others to transform, heal and play.

I can’t wait to share some new offerings with you in the Spring.

The music I have made over the last decade is a great tool if you are moving through loss, difficult emotions, stress or just a regular old day. I encourage you to follow me on Spotify, share my music, and it you want to send me some money to say you value the vibration I hold on the planet, I welcome that.

The way music goes these days, unless you are touring or selling lots of merchandise, your income does not come from people listening to your music on the many platforms that are now available and so I am working on how to make a sustainable living and keep singing and recording music.

This comes from a recent webinar I took with Michael Elsner about the reality of income from music streaming. I found it really enlightening.

The good news is lots of people are listening to my music and I am beyond grateful for that. It inspires me to make more and more music and sing for more and more people in service of my own peace, joy and awakening and the peace, harmony and awakening of us all!

I look forward to playing live for you soon!

In honor of the life and teachings of MLK jr. and the many in our world who are working towards a Humanity that is more just, peaceful, fair, and equal enjoy my song from 2016 Freedom is an Inside Job.

To celebrate my favorite time of year on Cape Cod, I have decided to create Sweet September: 12 Days of 12 Rebirth.

In this series I will be sharing a track from my recent Album 12 Rebirth, talking about its creation and also linking it to an earlier song of mine. Read more about why I am doing this at Day 1.

Day 10 Sanctity and I am that I am

I am writing Day 10 from Creacon Wellness Retreat in Ireland. I just completed a day of traveling and feel blessed to have landed here and now. These two songs could not be more perfect for my arrival here.

Sanctity was one of the last songs I wrote for 12 Rebirth and it was partly inspired by Richard Rudd’s book The Gene Keys. If you have never heard of this book, I encourage you to check it out.

Both Sanctity and I am that I am are what we might call anthems and both have mantras of sound and energy in them. They are both about my relationship with my Highest Self or Source.

Both songs reference Christian scripture and the vibration of what I understand as Christ’s Love. The difference between these songs and your average Christian song is that I do not believe Christ is the only way. I trust all Beings and all Souls to find their own unique way to Love and Unity.

I was blessed to be raised in a Catholic family that embodied the energy of a Loving Christ – one that welcomes all and loves all. Although, my awareness has expanded out beyond any one religion, the Teachings of Jesus are still at the center of a lot of my prayer and way of being. And sometimes when I am writing songs, a scripture or mantra from Jesus will come through.

The good news is that when it comes to music, it doesn’t really matter what I think or why I wrote something, it only matters what vibration ends up in the song and how you feel it. So, I encourage you to spend some time with these tracks and see what opens for you.

I am going to rest now and drink some tea.

Thanks again for tuning in and I will see you tomorrow for Day 11.

To celebrate my favorite time of year on Cape Cod, I have decided to create Sweet September: 12 Days of 12 Rebirth.

Day 9 Love Again and Highest Good

Day 9 has arrived and it also happens to be Sept. 9th.

Day 9 on 9/9. LOVE that alignment. What does the number 9 mean to you? For me, it has always meant completion. Something is completing for me, individually and collectively.

A completion doesn’t have to mean a dramatic end, it could be a very subtle internal shift. The great thing about life, consciousness and meaning is that we get to create it for ourselves. That’s right.

We are the creator of our own reality.

It’s amazing to me that on this day of completion, I am sharing two songs that are about love and how to remember love even in the face of loss or change or completion. Both of these songs were inspired by beautiful women that I loved. Both relationships changed and “ended” in the form they had been, however both these beings are forever in my heart and have forever changed me for the better.

In Love Again, I explore my whole experience with loss, not just romantic love but that early loss we may feel as children when we offer our heart in its purest form and someone else just doesn’t get it. Some of us are more sensitive than others and so this early experience can be marked deeply in our psyche even if the moment wasn’t really that big a deal in another’s reality.

And so, it really becomes our responsibility to love ourselves, acknowledge the truth of our experience and remember how to love again. Love bigger, love better, love with joy and risk even knowing that love can sometimes lead to loss.

In Highest Good, which I wrote in 2008 and recorded on Winds of Sinai, I was very inspired by the music of India Arie. (If you have never listened to her music, I recommend I Am Light)

A relationship that I thought was deeply spiritual and absolutely “meant to be” ended. The writing of this song was my practice of letting it go and allowing a bigger picture to be made known to me.

Since writing that song, my understanding of love and connection has matured greatly and I now truly believe that all relationships are reflections of our relationship with our self and that the end of any relationship is never a failure but rather an opportunity to go inside and reflect on who we are and what we are attracting into our lives.

I fly off to Ireland tonight to be at my spiritual home, Creacon Wellness Retreat and I am beyond grateful that I will be completing this 12 part essay series in that amazing vortex.

Thanks for tuning in and remember wherever you are, whatever you are experiencing, All is Well.

Nothing is here to hurt is.

Everything is here to awaken us to more of who we truly are.

I can’t believe it’s June 1st. Wow! The May 17 Official release concert in Brooklyn was so fun and it is so thrilling to have this new music out in the world and be hearing back from some of you about what you are liking and what is resonating. Have you heard the CD? Or received it in the mail? Send me a message and let me know how you are listening and what you are loving. Those little messages mean more than you think and help keep me going.

TONIGHT I will be enjoying a beautiful experience at the Harwich Cultural Center with a local group of Cape musicians backing me up. so so fun. Catie Flynn, who sang on the record will be in the house along with her band mates Aaron Mayo and Karl Hoyt. Rich Buck will be on drums which is such a treat.

I have shows coming up on June 15 in Quincy, MA, June 22 in New Ross Ireland and July 26 in Cincinnati.

There will be more to announce in the next couple weeks about dates in Canada and the midwest, but for now, I wanted to say THANK YOU and if you have not taken a moment to tune into 12 Rebirth, I encourage you to. It is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon (among other platforms.)

You can go to Queen City Records and see all the lyrics and cover art as you listen.

It’s an amazing time to be alive and creating music and I am so grateful to have you with me on this journey.

May All Beings in All the Worlds be Happy and Free.

What an extraordinary year it has been. As a great author once said,

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way—in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.” – The Tale of Two Cities

The tale of two cities, indeed. Which city are you living in? Do you know you can choose, in any moment?

I have learned this lesson over and over again and I am grateful to still be here – ALIVE and THRIVING towards that which I know I am: Love, Sound, Joy – here to serve myself and anyone who chooses to listen. May your true voice arise within you and may you share it with love, power, grace and the wisdom that YOU are incredibly powerful and the world needs YOUR voice RIGHT NOW.

Please join me over for some events over the next couple weeks. TONIGHT for winter solstice. JAN. 5 for the new moon and JUNE 21-23 for an extraordinary experience at Creacon in Ireland.

be still. love yourself. love everyone else. sometimes it really is that simple. And when in doubt, CHANT!

creacon save the date solstice

Here we are at the very beginning of 2018. What a blessing!

So much NEW music is coming through me right now and I can’t wait to share in a variety of ways. There will be lots of change here at AliciaMathewson.com as well as Sounding Still Wellness in 2018, so stay tuned and know that this year is THE year for all of us to become ALL THAT WE ARE with joy and ease.

As a way  to take a breath and reflect (before everything starts rolling at light speed), I share my top 11 reflections of 2017. Why 11? Because 2018 is an 11 year – the number of Self Mastery. yeah baby.

Thanks for being a part of the integration and NEW CREATIONS to come.

I am so grateful for you!

Love Love Love

  1. I love my pussy hat: I remember this time last year. It was kind of heavy, even though I did trust in the big picture, I was feeling a lot. My trip to Washington DC on January 21 was long and historic and I am so grateful I was there physically. What has happened since – a great breaking of silence among women and all oppressed people gives me great hope that the energy of people can change our world
  2. Oops I am a music teacher: The joy and challenge and growth as a person and a musician I have experienced over the last year while teaching music at Cape Cod Academy has surprised me more than anything else. I knew in theory that children are here to teach me, but I had no idea until I accepted the challenge of stepping into and truly committing to an educational community here on Cape Cod what that really meant. I am so grateful for the opportunity and continued growth. To serve children and families through music is one of my greatest joys.
  3. Charleston, SC and the glory of American History: For spring break in April Kristen and I travelled to Charleston to meet her parents and had some extraordinary experiences. We ate amazing food at amazing restaurants, soaked in a little sun and visited Magnolia Plantation, where we saw a 400 year old tree standing in front of reproduced slave cabins. It was deep and painful and beautiful all at once. If you are interested in the history of Magnolia and the history of slavery in SC as well as civil war history from the point of view of SC, check out this website. We also visited the memorial to the Charleston 9 at AME church. Again powerfully sad and beautiful and I came upon some gorgeously landscaped outside spaces that included Alicia’s lawn and it felt somewhat magical. I am so grateful for the experience, especially as a life long new englander – there is so much shared colonial history that connected me to Charleston.
  4. 10 years since my mom passed: On May 17, the 10 year anniversary of my mom’s passing, I visited her grave with my niece Tess. It was early in the morning and Tess and I had a truly beautiful experience where Tess gave mom an update on all the grandchildren. It was so sweet, simple and filled with so much love. To see all that Tess has become and is becoming is one of my greatest joys and I am so grateful to her for making me an aunt (over 20 years ago!). I also was moved to plant bulbs last fall, so for the first time both my mom’s grave and Grandma and Grandpa Cuddy’s grave were blooming with life. I am not really into graves, but seeing the bulbs appear in early spring was truly magical. I wonder if they will bloom again this year…
  5. The Grace of Ireland and knowing Derek O’Neill: It was also the ten year anniversary of my first week-long workshop in Ireland with Derek O’Neill and my initiation as a Rising Star Energy Healing Teacher. Because of this, I chose to go to the June workshop again for the first time since 2013. All I can say is WOW! so many pieces came together for me and for so many others. Derek gave us this yantra as well as so many other gifts of awareness and consciousness. When I returned from Ireland, I received a mysterious package in the mail. I was literally looking around the Barnstable Post Office, like – is this real. Little did I know the gift it was and how it would all unfold (more on that later)

  6. When energy moves, MOVE: Following the trip to Ireland everything started moving including me and Kristen. With the help of her parents we moved into a new home right in Barnstable Village – pretty damn cool. I also moved my office for Sounding Still Wellness to Hyannis after almost 4 years of where I had been. It was a lot of change – a lot of throwing stuff out and packing and moving and it all seemed to happen in lighting speed. Below is a picture of the beautiful rose of sharon tree Kristen got me – we had to say goodbye to it at our old home – but we have planted new ones at the new home and look forward to many years of blossoms!
  7. The Solar Eclipse. One Day is Here. For the solar eclipse on Aug 21, I was on Cape Cod with Kristen and watched it on my computer as well as down at the BYC. It was a pretty mellow day, but I knew huge shifts were happening internally. My new friend Vivienne Gerard who wrote the book One Day is Here was having her own experience at a farm in the middle of the country. It was her book that I had received in the mail in June and after the eclipse, we began connecting on a more regular basis and our friendship and work together is only expanding. I highly recommend her book One Day is Here as a guide to awakening and expanding into different dimensions. The best part about the book is she recommends music to listen to as you read to help you integrate. She used 2 songs of mine from my 2012: isn’t Amazing record before she had even met me. That’s pretty cool!

  8. Back to school: September brought school and me getting to really set-up my music room in a new way. These were some of the posters I used and my cool new rainbow rug. It was a fabulous first half of the year and I look forward to winter and spring of 2018.
  9. 11/11 – portal into self-mastery: For 11/11 I travelled to Cincinnati and gave a concert at Vivienne’s home. I met an incredible group of fellow travelers and was treated like a queen in every way. I wish this kind of fun, sacredness, honoring of your gifts and yummy food for everyone. It truly was a most amazing weekend. Vivienne also led an 11/11 activation that included her powerful soul guiding meditation woven in with my music. I also did a bunch of rising stars. Needless to say, we were all changed and accelerated into this new vibration of 2018 – a year of self-mastery and more service and joy for all! We also at some yummy ice cream at Graeters – a truly Ohio thing to do apparently. Vivienne is a truly gifted guide, coach and healer, so check out her offerings which she can do in person or over the phone.
  10. Coming home again: The best part of traveling is coming home. Kristen and I hosted our first thanksgiving this year and it was a great success, as well as WAY WARMER than it is right now. That’s a pic of me and Kristen and my sister on a magical walk. We then travelled to Woodstock, NY for a great family christmas and are now under many blankets hanging out with Marley (our cat). We love our new home and feel so grateful.
  11. The energies of 2018 are powerful and so far have been super emotional for me. Here is a new poem I wrote this morning called BE CREATIVE AND TRUST in 2018 – It’s very personal and universal. First  I wrote it and then recorded it. Nothing like a Full moon in Cancer on 1.1.2018 to get you flowing. 😉 LISTEN and FEEL  .
