Happy Full moon!! I am so excited to release another new song!

This song was recorded in the last six weeks on Cape Cod with Jon Evans at Brick Hill Studios.

My good friend and beautiful musician Allison Leyton-Brown is playing piano from afar in Toronto and Spencer Sunshine at The Orange Lounge mixed it for us.

The first verse is about the joy of daily life, the second verse is about being at a kirtan with amazing folks right here on Cape Cod (check out Breath & Sound) and the last verse is about dancing in Ischia with the Happiness Sangha.

No matter what the words say, the music will lift you up and remind you, LOVE IS HAPPENING. even as so many systems are falling apart around us, we have the power to remember the love that we are and the love we can share.

See you on stage in Provincetown soon. GET TICKETS for the conversation with Rita Mae Brown and Felice Cohen

I am having an absolutely wonderful summer after a pretty difficult 15 months or so and feel so grateful. Like a beautiful flower that was planted in deep dark soil, I am blooming and allowing myself to shine, receivoing all the love.

I am more than excited to finally release a new single – WOOT WOOT!

Last August 8-9, 2023 I recorded a small of group of songs in Toronto, Canada with my good friend Allison Leyton-Brown on piano (She played on and co-produced 12 Rebirth). These songs are becoming a part of a larger project that I will be releasing in full on 7/7/2025 (more on that soon). In the meantime, I couldn’t wait to start releasing some of the tunes.

8/8 is a powerful symbol for me, like 11:11. These numbers have been present for me for over 12 years and if you are interested in their significance there are lots of folks all over the internet, you can tune into to explore the fun. (Celia Fenn is one of my favs)

For me, 8/8 is connected to the sun and ancient Egypt and the power of the lion and the lioness. It is a time of courage and awakening and remembering that no matter what we may face in our human journey, we are connected to a never-ending fabric of love, peace, and alignment.

This is why I am releasing my song “Everything is Magic” on 8/8. The cover art includes a picture of me, taken recently on my retreat trip to Ischia in Italy with the Happiness Sangha. It is taken at the beautiful gardens of La Martella in the temple of the sun created by Lady Susanna. It was an absolutely magical moment arriving at this place, so it felt perfect.

If you dig my music, dig my vibration, you can help me create more of it, by following me on Spotify or Apple Music or everywhere and anywhere you listen to music. You can also help me by donating directly to my work. I will be launching a kickstarter and streamlining my online presence over the next 6 months or so, so stay tuned. In the meantime, thank you for listening and thank you for sharing.

It’s July 1st and tomorrow I head out on an adventure to my two favorite I countrys: Ireland and Italy. Ireland has been one of my go to places for almost 20 years. After meeting spiritual teacher Derek O’Neill in NYC in 2005, I have been to Ireland and his family’s healing center almost every year since. Creacon Wellness Retreat is situated in New Ross, Wexford County and through all the changes over the years, it remains a most sacred place for me and many others.

After that little visit, I then take off into the great unknown for a meditation retreat on the island of Ischia with the Happiness Sangha. This is the reward I have given myself for making it through one of the most difficult years I have ever lived – not that too much bad stuff was happening externally – more like a perfect storm on the inside – almost like every loss, doubt, fear I ever had about myself as a human and a spiritual being was activated – speaking really loud internally. My only choice was to listen and love it all. oh Joy!

And that is the truth. Oh joy. This harrowing journey of self-reckoning, loss and healing invited me into an even deeper, more authentic expression of my true self and all the joy and sorrow that entails. (new music coming soon ;))

What helped me this past year and what has always helped me is practicing mantra. What is mantra, you may ask? In preparing to write this I looked up online the actual definitions of mantra – there were many. Here is one I resonate with:

From Deepak Chopra’s website: “In our westernized, modern-day spiritual practices the word “mantra” has become as mainstream as “intention.” But the two are actually quite different. The word mantra can be broken down into two parts: “man,” which means mind, and “tra,” which means transport or vehicle. In other words, a mantra is an instrument of the mind—a powerful sound or vibration that you can use to enter a deep state of meditation.

Like a seed planted with the intention of blossoming into a beautiful perennial, a mantra can be thought of as a seed for energizing an intention. Much in the same way you plant a flower seed, you plant mantras in the fertile soil of practice. You nurture them and over time they bear the fruit of your intention.

I have been using mantra and contemplative prayer my whole life. A mantra my mom used which was one of my first recordings is known as a prayer of loving kindness goes like this:

May I be at peace
May my heart remain open
May I awaken the to the light of my own true nature
May I be healed
May I be a source of healing for all beings

Check out all 3 versions: the OG, combined with Samastah, and the Live version

I have also recorded these mantras: Asato Ma, Gate Gate, Om Nimah Shivaya, Om Sri Laksmi, Hare Krishna and my most streamed track on Spotify Om gam ganapataye namaha.

These mantras are in Sanskrit but mantras can also be in English and as simple as “I am loved and I am lovable” (see Chopra for lots of great teachings on mantras and meditation). I have a song called I am that I am, which many use like a mantra.

No matter what is happening in your life or in your mind, you can tune into mantras that help sustain and create what it is you truly want in your life. Tune into me, tune into to you, tune into whatever or whoever feels right and empowered.

When I return from this trip I will be offering one-on-one mantra healing sessions as well as group classes sharing more of what I have learned and practiced using mantra. Have a beautiful July and I will see you on the other side of my great adventure into Love, self-compassion and joy joy joy!

The weather so far in June in New England has been such a gift from Mother Nature. As I am typing this, it is a perfect Saturday morning with blue skies, a light breeze and sun for days. Last night I took a long walk in Plymouth, where I have lived for the last 9 months, and breathed in the healing salt energy of this ocean. I could feel the summer emerging with the sound of loud motorcycles, families in strollers, and friends with cocktails all out to connect and soak in the happy season of the south shore.

A year ago I got a new hip.

So, taking a long walk on the beach and into town is more of a joy for me now than ever before. It was not the easiest year for me as a human (can you relate?). I had multiple losses and changes, started teaching at a new school and living in a new place, all while allowing this new hip to integrate fully becoming strong and flexible again.

The physical healing actually went incredibly well and I was blessed to have such a smooth and easy surgical and recovery process. The harder journey was internal – mental, emotional, spiritual. It was a perfect storm of so many changes while also moving through the beginning of menopause that invited me into the deepest and darkest place I have experienced yet as a human. I don’t say that to get your comfort. I say that so if you too find yourself journeying through dark places internally, you know lots of other humans are on that journey as well. And you are not alone.

The good news about these cycles in our lives, is that if we really show up for them and ask for the right support, they become the gold mines of our true authentic self.

This past winter in an attempt to sleep and survive, I discovered a new meditation teacher Elizabeth Pyjov (from Insight Timer) and was invited to deepen my self-awareness and meditation practice, opening to self-compassion on a whole new level. Even after 20 years of spiritual and self-awareness work, I had to go back to basics. At the end of the day, It doesn’t really matter what triggered it (though my mind always wants to figure that out), what matters is that I applied practices, reached out for help, stayed connected, and healed on a deeper level creating more resilience, more clarity and more wisdom to share.

I look forward to sharing in the months and years ahead through new music, meditation offerings and multiple books.

Meanwhile on planet earth….It’s PRIDE month and I am watching (mostly online) as joy and celebration happens along side protests and demands for more equality and freedom for all beings. It’s a lot to take in and I find being with nature and being present where I am is what helps me feel most at peace and open to honoring the legacy of so many activists and pioneers that paved the way for me and so many others to be OUT and PROUD.

I remember when I went to both the March on Washington PRIDE in 1993 and NYC PRIDE in 1995. It was a revelation for that 22-24 year old and so important to the development of my own sense of self, community and creative expression. The energy and freedom through the multi-layered manifestation of so many different humans was life-changing. It was inspiring and empowering and opened me to parts of myself I had hidden or was afraid to share. I also found my voice playing guitar and protesting at a variety of events for women and the queer community. I am grateful for all of those experiences and honor the fact that now as many are preparing to march in Boston this morning, I am sitting alone in my apartment writing this.

Whoever you are or wherever you are, I hope you allow yourself to open to what helps you be YOU and feel safe to connect and express. If you are someone who uses their voice and body to create more freedom for others, THANK YOU. If you are someone who sits and meditates on well-being for all, THANK YOU. We need all expressions of freedom and peace and I honor all the choices folks make to bring this forward.

Happy June! Happy Pride month! Happy birthday to my hip!

Please send me a message or leave me a comment and let me know how you are , what’s happening in your world and if I can serve you.

I am in the process of upgrading my online presence on all levels and will be sharing downloadable products – both audio recordings and written material. I will also be offering one-on-one coaching and healings over zoom as well as group offerings on zoom and in person, so stay tuned!

I am writing this on the the eve of the Great American Solar Eclipse. It’s fascinating to see how many folks are paying attention to this eclipse. I remember a solar eclipse in August of 2017 and the collective consciousness was not as focused on it as it is now. Whether you have your glasses to watch, are spending the day meditating, or are simply living your regular daily life, I am sure we will all feel the collective shift.

To celebrate and honor all that we are moving through individually and collectively I am excited to be getting back out there offering both meditation classes and live music for yoga. Please check out my offerings and I hope to see you in person.

15 Years of Music LISTEN on BANDCAMP

A Song from Alicia recorded October 2021

It’s hard to believe we are here again at June 21 – summer solstice. This is absolutely one of my favorite times of year. It could be because I am a music teacher and at this point I am usually done will all my duties and off on a 10 week break from teaching. If you are teacher, you know the sweetness of this moment. 😉

It is also a time I have traditionally travelled to my spiritual home Creacon Wellness Retreat. When in Ireland at this time it is light out until 10:30pm and the glory of the gardens are breathtaking. The trip I took there last year was such a gift. As some of you may know I shifted my yearly trip to March in 2023 – and so I get to enjoy this beautiful Solstice time here on Cape Cod. What grace!

I have had many life shifts since February of this year and as I sit here feeling rested and relaxed it’s hard for me to fathom all the decisions I made and changes I co-created over the last few months. Whew! Perhaps you are feeling the same way.

I have relocated to Cape Cod again full time and will be teaching at a new school in the fall called the Inly School located in Scituate. This return to the south shore and teaching at a Montessori school makes my heart sing in all the right ways! I am incredibly grateful for the three years I spent teaching at the Meadowbrook School of Weston and carry the passion of my colleagues and students with me forever.

The biggest shift though, perhaps is that I just had a successful hip replacement surgery. WHAT????It has been quite a journey and experience and I must say – somewhat miraculous. This choice to have surgery and correct arthritis that I had in my hip is leading me to walk forward with strength in love and flexibility. It will allow me to hike and swim and play lots and lots of music shows. I can’t wait to see you out there in the end of 2023 and all of 2024. I am heading into the studio in August with my co-producer Allison Leyton-Brown and we are planning to make some great fun and magic, so stay tuned for new music coming soon.

Until then, I am healing and resting. contemplating and meditating, playing and connecting and enjoying the grace and glory of what it is to be alive right now on this planet.

My first big public event is at Maine Yoga Fest at the end of July – so come check it out – there are many incredible teachers and musicians to help serve you and co-create more ease and joy in your life.

As I have been healing, I was blessed to sign up for Vivienne Gerard’s Online program called Loving Ourselves – it includes Loving Our Mothers and Loving Our Fathers and has been an incredible support and awakening for me. If you find yourself moving through difficult things or yearning for more optimum health in your life, I encourage you to check out her program. I will be on all the classes beginning July 7, so perhaps I will see you there. If you do sign-up mention you heard about it from me.

So much love to all. I hope you are listening to me on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, etc. and maybe even in your car with a good old fashioned CD.

Please reach out if I can be of service in anyway.

Happy 2023. Here we are on February 6, day after a full moon in Leo and finally feeling like we are truly moving forward into a new calendar year.

I am reflecting on the power of our own voices a lot lately. I am a human who has sung since I was a small child and made a life of writing my own songs and then singing them, in my own voice for the past 35 years. (recording a few of the songs along the way) What have I learned doing that? Not unlike what Lizzo shared last night at the Grammy’s: Even if you feel like an outsider, like people don’t get you, keep going and be yourself. You will find your people. You will attract people to you that will support you. This is so true. In all areas of life.

Not all of us may experience that Truth at the level of Lizzo, but we can experience it and the experience of listening to your own voice, acting from it, sharing it and having someone else acknowledge with joy and love that your voice is special is such a thrill and something I want all beings to experience.

Perhaps this is why I find myself teaching children music. When they feel heard and honored for their unique voice, they light up like a lightbulb and we can all feel it in the room, including me.

What lights you up right now? How can you allow for more of that as we continue on in this year? Everything is possible in any given moment and we can always invite in something new or amplify something present that we want more of. This is the power of our voice – inside and out. I am thrilled to have begun work on a new album (creating new music always lights me up!) and hope to release it to all of you before year end.

I am also thrilled to be returning to Ireland March 17-19 to lead Song of Rebirth at Creacon Wellness Retreat. This amazing opportunity to return to this beautiful place each year and travel with a group of souls exploring, healing and rebirthing the power of our voices is such a blessing for me.

There are still spots left, so if you want to remember, discover new sounds and amplify the power of your own voice, consider joining us. Book Directly At Creacon Website.

I have been aware of the energy of 11/11 for almost 15 years now. What is that energy? I like to think of it as a Unity energy. I imagine each 1 in 11/11 is a pillar of Light standing next to another pillar of light. What happens when we all allow ourselves to be our lightest, most peaceful and connected selves? What happens when we have the courage to acknowledge our human struggles and choose love and connection still.

This is the journey I continue to walk and I am beyond blessed to have had the resources, family and friends and spiritual teachings that I have had thus far.

That being said, I also feel like I am on the verge of somewhere I have never been before – like that moment in Back to the future where Doc says ” Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” Can you relate? Do you feel like both an individual and collective awareness or awakening is happening and you are not sure about your next step? Or you can see the next step but it’s hard to trust it’s actually going somewhere.

You are not alone.

We (Humanity) need you to remember as best you can and live into who you truly are in service of yourself and all. This remembering can be joyful! This remembering is why we are here. This remembering can happen while living and connecting and being a regular old human.

What a miraculous time to be alive.

Thank you for tuning in to my music and my journey and the way I choose to share it. I would love to see you in person on Dec. 21 on Cape Cod at Dennisport Yoga for a Solstice Celebration with yoga and music and ritual co-led by Leigh Alberti and Joanna Benevides.

I would also love to see you in Ireland March 17-19 at my beloved Creacon Wellness Retreat Center. It will be a powerful and nurturing time of connection and creation. To learn more about Sound of Rebirth and book the retreat, visit the Creacon website.

Big love to all and know that my music and it’s vibration is always available and in service of you. Find me on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and if you are listening a lot or feel moved, feel free to send me a little love in the form of money.

I am also updating on my instagram page if that is something you. choose to tune into.

Big love to all. Enjoy this final passage of 2022.
